Here is the YouTube video of the infamous Rod Marinelli presser, where Detroit News columnist Rob Parker asks if he wishes Marinelli's daughter married a better defensive coordinator. You can read Parker's follow-up column here, and Rod's rebuttal here. You decide who is the bigger idiot - the coach on the verge of history, or the reporter who drew fire for the comments. Only in Detroit.
In a match that had intense drama, Liverpool prevailed. An own goal, and two penalty kicks were all scored by Liverpool to make it 2-1. Liverpool was down 1-0 at the half, but Steven Gerard got things going as he drew a red card by flying in for a potential break-away, only to be taken down by Everton's Tony Hibbert.
Dirk Kuyt scored his first of two penalty kicks there. There was some controversy at the end of extra time when Everton was on the attack, a Liverpool's Carragher pulled the Toffee Lescott down in fine WWE form. Tough beans, Liverpool won.
Aud seemed to enjoy watching her first match. Mommy thinks she liked the red and blue colors moving back and forth on the screen.
It's finally here. Liverpool is facing Everton today at Merseyside Park - Everton's home field. DirecTV has a package called Setanta sports, that allows me to watch the match live from the Blackout Tavern.
No Andy Johnson for the Toffees and no Fernando Torres for the Reds. At six minutes in, there has been one corner kick and Liverpool has been on the attack quite often. Anyone's match, but I'm sure Liverpool will prevail.
Jackson and I have a six pack riding on this match. Cannot wait to try Indiana's finest brew.
For the second consecutive week, I have scored the most points in one of my two fantasy football leagues. Both weeks, I won by two points. While I had Adrian Peterson, who had a monster game - I also had Kurt Warner who virtually died on the field. My opponent had a decent running back from San Diego.
Witness one of the greatest goals you will ever see. Steven Gerrard of the Reds, parks this free kick against Aston Villa to win their first Premier League match of the season. Looks like Man U, Arsenal and the Toffees are in deep doo-doo.
Earlier this week, I went golfing with some buddies after work. We went to Quail Ridge Golf Course here in Ada. While I had fun, I realized I'm no golfer.
Total tally: * Four lost balls * Three duffed balls * Two whiffs * One near-fatality as I almost hit the beer cart
On Saturday, I attended my first Grand Rapids Rampage Arena Football game. Held at Van Andel Arena in downtown Grand Rapids, the Rampage were an exciting team to watch. While I was there, they won 71-55 over the Kats of Nashville. Jeff Smoker, the former Michigan State quarterback, was the QB of the Kats.
The most notable Rampage player I saw was Michael Bishop. Bishop, the former Kansas State QB who finished second in Heisman voting to Ricky Williams in 1998, didn't even play QB for Grand Rapids.
While the game clearly doesn't stack up to the NFL, it was interesting to see the return men play the ball off of the walls, and guys getting tackled into the boards.
My Dad is a huge fan of NASCAR. I've watched it with him since I was a little kid; I even remember the first race where in-car cameras were installed. This year, he and I are going to do "Fantasy NASCAR". I'm at a terrible disadvantage since I don't follow the sport. However, I know that Toyota will have a few cars this year, the first race of the season (Daytona) is the biggest and that they broadcast in high-definition. Anything in HD is cool, so I'll give it a shot.
There are a few drivers I know - Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr. Little E is probably the driver I will root for the most. Seems like a cool guy for a redneck. I remember seeing his home on MTV's Cribs, and he had a bar in his basement complete with a stripper pole.
My Dad and I are using the Yahoo Fantasy Racing to compete each week. You pick three flights of drivers - one in the top tier, two drivers in the second tier, and one driver in the third tier.
Below is a commercial with Dale Jr. and his late father in a Chevy commercial:
