Sharon made lunch and dinner yesterday, so I figured I'd get off of my can and make breakfast today:
Who can make a more perfect omelet than this? That's what I thought.

It's Friday, so after work a buddy from the office and I stopped at Founders. Had a terrific beer - their Black Rye. It a modest beer that's as dark as the night, and smooth like Barry White. Actually, both beer and Barry White have a lot in common - getting women to take their gear off and get funky.
Afterwards, I came home and had two more beers - Young's Oatmeal Stout and La Fin Du Monde. La Fin Du Monde is one of my buddy Parker's favorite beers. It's a 9% ABV triple fermented wonder in a glass. Young's Oatmeal Stout is a tasty number from England's oldest brewery - The Ram Brewery in Wadsworth. While it is only 5.2% ABV, it is quite fun to pound - much like a baby seal.
Just kidding - no seals were harmed in the writing of this blog post. Now, aardvarks on the other hand are a completely different night at the opera. Here at Thurston Blogging, we beat the shit out of aardvarks fortnightly.
Now, the wife has returned from walking the dogs and wants to watch TV. That is the third iteration of that sentence. The first two - Sharon didn't think were appropriate.
Peas out you knuckleheads. Yes I meant to say peas and not peace - what am I, ignorant?!

Brick Update:
Jackson, I think that this is worth a watch. It's odd, and a bit off. However, no swearing and no nudity. Some drugs and a bit of violence do make it interesting. Some dialouge that makes you pay attention.
While I don't think it's ready to be put in the Pantheon of truly terrific and odd movies (Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Bottle Rocket, etc.), it's a movie that will probably warrant a second viewing.
The kid from Third Rock, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, was very solid. From the looks of his IMDB page, he's been working steady after this movie was made. Real rising star.
My right foot is sore. An ache really. No idea why. That's a bit annoying.
Jackson, I would advise you to copy this for posterity.

The chili - just short of wonderful. Three bowls (two at lunch and one for dinner) of the stuff makes Jay a full boy. Good heat, and a tasty flavor which I attribute to the IPA and green pepper and onion.
G, Saylor and I got a few good games of Call of Duty 2 in this afternoon. Good shooting all around.
Had a conference call at 3:00 PM, which lasted all of fifteen minutes. It's a bummer that it was so quick, however it meant there wasn't a problem to be dealt with. Round two - tomorrow at 6:00 AM. Ugh.
While on the phone, I updated my MP3 collection to add the music that I recieved from Gordon, D Grimes and El Jackson. Thanks fellas - there's some good stuff in there. Looking forwards to Magic Potion.
Afterwards, I began playing the new NCAA Football 2007 for XBOX 360. What fun - stunning graphics, fluid gameplay, ESPN Commentary. And, you can add your own player which is cool.
Started playing with Central Michigan University, and played the Colorado Buffalos. Damn wads from Boulder beat me by a touchdown. Next up, the Chips vs. the U of M Wolverines. Could be ugly.
That game will be held after I finish watching Brick. Twenty minutes in and I feel like I'm in the middle of a David Lynch acid nightmare. Too soon to pass judgement, but this is weird.

It's 8:00 AM, and I've been up for two hours. Made Gordon's favorite breakfast - a bacon and cheese omelet. G's been right all these years - that is a tasty breakfast.
Truth be told, I needed bacon for Thurston's Famous Chili. Since I have to work today and I'm forced to miss the best party of the summer - Kurt's Dream Cruise bash, I'm going to eat my face off. The chili is simmering in our brand new crock pot.
This batch has all the usual ingredients - ground sirloin, BACON, onion, green pepper, chili beans, tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced maters, and twelve ounces of Founders IPA. It was hard to not drink that last night, but I knew it was for the greater good.
I've also added two new small, but potentially very powerful ingredients, in the form of one Orange Habanero chili and two Red Thai "Super" Chilies.
Now, I got these chilies from a new guy at work. Mike has introduce me to the Scoville Scale. Wilber Scoville invented a scale to measure the ass-burning ability of a given chili pepper.
A typical Jalapeno pepper has somewhere between 2,500-5,000 Scoville Units.
These peppers that Mike gave me, well they're a bit hotter:
Red Thai "Super" Chili - 50,000-100,000 Scoville Units
Orange Habanero Chili - 100,000-350,000 Scoville Units

Holy gore, Batman. To say that I should have my head examined is an understatement. Hostel?! What a horrible piece of garbage. Tarantino should take his name off of this dirt pile. Perhaps I'm just getting old, but this is just gore and blood for the sake of keeping special effects crews employed.
There was some nice nude shots, but they were off-set by man ass.
No stars, with the exception of Samuel L. Jackson shown on a clip from Pulp Fiction. Terrible plot, and just nasty violence. At this point, I think I may take Saw out of the DVD weekend rotation.
If you like Hostel, you're a terrible person. If you rent this, prepare to regret it.

Finished my pizza, and I'm now watching the Lions pre-season game. There is a commercial break to review if Charlie Fry's pass was a touchdown or not. Don't think it was. I've been wrong before.
Friggin' Touchdown.
Beer 1 from the growler is going down quite well. I'd take a picture of mah beer, but Sharon took the camera to NYC.
Going to watch the Lions next offensive series, and then I'm switching to Hostel.

Phase one – complete. At the ass-crack of dawn, I took Sharon to the airport. She has landed safe and sound in New York at 8:30 AM. This kicks off the Weekend of Jay. Phase two – fill my growler. So, I stopped down to Founders Brewery and loaded up on the IPA. A beer that has an ABV (alcohol by volume) percentage of over 7 is good in my neighborhood. Thought it would be best to taste a pint of the hoppy fun drink before taking home a half gallon of it. Tasted like a little bit of fun in my mouth.
Hey, Jay – what’s the plan for the rest of the evening?
Funny you should ask. I have a couple of frozen pizzas in the oven right now. Pepperoni, baby. Afterwards, it’s movie time. First on the list – Saw. Parker
lent me a copy of the movie today after discussing it in the office, so I’m
excited about that. Afterwards, the Netflix movies arrived. Hostel is in the batter's box.
After the movie, you can find me on XBOX Live playing Call
of Duty 2. Yeah, I said Duty. If you see me on, prepare to eat a few slugs
from my all-powerful trench gun.
The Detroit Lions will be playing the cursed Cleveland Browns. The Lions and Browns used to be two of the best teams in the NFL. Fifty years ago. Since then, both teams have had a few chances, but for the most part – continue to stink up their respective divisions.

Sharon and I signed up for the two-week free trial of Netflix. As a former customer, I was pretty happy for a while. Then, the problems came: Wrong movies, broken discs, and long waits to name a few. The biggest complaint was new movies not being available.
So, we switched to Blockbuster. I enjoyed Blockbuster as you could get coupons for in-store rentals each month, which I would use on XBOX games. Holla. However, Cockbuster began to have the same issues as Netflix, so we canceled them as well. With me being out of the country so much, we were not able to enjoy many flicks together anyway.
So, here are my first three flicks. Since Sharon is going to be gone this weekend, and I have to miss the Dream Cruise, I picked movies I am interested in:
Hostel
V for Vendetta
Brick
V is one movie that I've seen, but it was on a 6" screen flying across the Atlantic Ocean. I'd like to watch it on my 46" Sony with 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
We'll see you at the movies. Reviews to follow.
Behold, my magnificent television. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Sony. Accept no substitute.
