RIP, Lou

Lou Creekmur, a Detroit Lions Hall of Famer, died today.  He was a great offensive linemen that won championships (before there was a Super Bowl) with the Lions three times.

Sorry to see you go - hopefully, we will get to see another Hall of Fame lineman for the Lions in our lifetime.

Dead Snow vs. Colin - a Zombie Bonanza!

This is going to be my new favorite movie. Or this one, from the zombie's perspective (and made for under one hundred buck) has promise as well:

Sharon's Birthday Belly Bomb Cake

Sharon's birthday is tomorrow, and I made her a cake.  Why?  Because I'm the best mofo husband in Ada!

Here is the recipe, courtesy of Paula Deen.  It's super-easy, and tastes like the cousin of UV.  What's UV?  I can't tell you.  Anyway, here is the recipe:

Ingredients & Directions:

Cake:
1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan. Prepare Filling

Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Ease of preparation: easy

My Fantasy Baseball Team Sucks

Last place.  My flippin' fantasy team is in last place out of 12 teams.  Ridiculous.  I need more PED's.

FBBL
I shall rise above.  Somehow.

Who's it going to be, Jimbo?

Hey, coach - you ready to fail?  If so, draft wrong like several of your predecessors?  Joey Harrington?  Gone.  Mike Williams?  See ya, fatty.  Charles Rogers?  What's on Adult Swim.

Jim Schwartz, Tom Lewand, Martin Mayhew and James "Shack" Harris are the new Detroit Lions brain trust.  Mayhew has put the team in good draft position by trading the awesome Roy Williams to Dallas for their first-round pick.  Now the Lions have three of the top 35 draft slots.  What to do?

#1 - Take a tackle.  Jason Smith of Baylor is a big, nasty and phyiscal blocker.  Lions Quarterbacks need to stay upright, and a blocker like Smith will help in the running game.

#2 - Grab someone who can tackle.  Time to focus on the other side of the ball.  Last year, the Lions traded stud DT Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns for a guy who is now in New England (thanks Millen).  So, we need another lane-clogger.  This made it harder for Ernie Sims to be effective at the LB position.  So, we could go after a DT here, but I prefer a linebacker.  Forget the guy from Ohio State, I like Rey Maualuga from USC.  The comparisons that people made on this guy are to Ray Lewis 9without the knifings).

#3 - Trade the first pick in the second round to Denver for Jay Cutler.  is this a long shot?  Sure.  He was the third QB drafted in the first round when he left Vandy, but the relationship between Denver and Cutler are as Ike and Tina.  If Cassel was traded for a second rounder, that should be the going rate for second-tier tossers.

The Mayor of Lansing weighs in on the US Auto Industry

The idiot from Fox News trys to paint the Lansing mayor as a dope, but I don't have an issue with what he's saying.  Since I haven't lived in Lansing for well over a decade, I don't know if this guy is doing a good job or not.  I know Lansing, like Flint, and many other towns in Michigan and the Midwest - are really hurting with the pullout of manufacturing.

Watch this and let me know what you think.

The Worst Super Bowl Ad. Ever.

Here is the worst Super Bowl commercial.  Ever.  Makes me want to start staying at Hilton hotels.

Justice is Served

The Detroit Lions will once again host the first NFL game on Thanksgiving Day.  That's ours.  I've been going to this game for 25 years, and I will not have some jerks pull it from us.  Matt Millen is gone, and we've been punished enough during his reign.

Good.  And nice job by Schwartz this week, making sure that the fans know that he realizes the importance of this game.

The Reaper Returns

Here is a teaser trailer from one of our favorite shows - Reaper. Sam, the Reaper, is a bumbling idiot who drinks and hunts escaped souls and sends them back to Hell.

Do you believe in now?

I found this video of the Lions, trying to get new season ticket holders.  The 2009 season may be a bit more difficult to reel in new fish, so they will need a few more commercials.
